Product Overview

Forget what you think you know about smoothbore slug gun accuracy. The Federal Premium® TruBall® is the most consistent smoothbore slug on the market, capable of groups as tight as 1.4 inch at 50 yards. The TruBall system locks the components together, centering and pushing the rifled slug out of the barrel. This promotes clean separation of components after muzzle exit to ensure the best accuracy.

  • A plastic ball between the wad and slug increases smoothbore accuracy
  • Capable of 1.4 inch groups at 50 yards
  • Clean separation of components after muzzle exit
  • Increased downrange energy

Wouldn’t use anything else
Have used this slug for many years. Have a red dot sight on my shotgun. Just put the dot where you want the slug to go. Good stopping power. Old school I don’t shoot out much beyond 75 yards but I’m sure the slug is capable of longer distance.

"pumpkin shooter" to tack driver!
I first read about these slugs in a Field & Stream article. The article claimed 2" groups at 50yds. I remember judging 50yd accuracy by whether or not i could even hit a paper plate at 50yds! now i can hit a coffee can lid with ease at 50 yds OFFHAND SHOOTING. this all coming out of a smoothbore 20g Mossberg knock-off! (Western Auto) -nothing fancy, NO rifled sights, NO scope - just a small grove above the action and a BB at the end of the barrel. i have yet to take a deer with them yet, usually here in Ohio my doe tag is filled and im going after a nice big buck by shotgun season - but i have 0 doubts on their ability to take down a deer. Before i get long winded, the 2 biggest things that sold me on these slugs were: 1) the price. usually no more than a dollar more than normal rifled slugs. and the accuracy for me has been no contest. 2.) when i bought my first box of these, i went out and tested them against my previous rifled slugs. we took a 4x2' of playwood and put a small dot on it. i went back to about 45yds and took a shot. 1ft low and left. shot again, and hieght was better but still left. loaded in a truball, from the same distance and pulled the trigger. 1"low and left from the same smoothbore gun as before. i looked at my brother n law with a grin and said "DONE!" i haven't used another brand since!
