only ammo i load for protection
this is by far the best ammo, for general protection, in my opinion. Weather out for a walk in the country side or visiting the big city, this will keep you safe, [might not be the best for bears or larger though]

barrel length
It is impossible to compare ammunition unless the barrel length is given. I don't see the barrel length given in your review. forgive me if I missed it. I recently bought some Hornady ammo and thought it was quite hot until I read further and found out the testing was done in an eight inch barrel. With a shorter barrel the velocity falls off rapidly, especially with a 357 magnum.
