This operation is a joint initiative between the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) to help Federal Firearms Licensees (FFL) make well-informed security-related decisions to deter and prevent thefts. Federal Ammunition also supports the FFL Protection Act, federal legislation that would increase penalties against those who steal from FFL retailers. Since 2016, more than 15,000 guns were stolen from FFL retailers, many of which go on to be used in subsequent crimes.
