Edge TLR

Edge TLR

Part #: P300WSMETLR200

Hunting at long range requires an extremely accurate bullet that still expands, holds together and penetrates deep. That's why Federal Premium® developed Edge TLR®. It uses the exclusive Slipstream™ polymer tip to initiate expansion at long distances. The patented hollow-core design initiates expansion at velocities 200 fps lower than other polymer tips. At close range, the bullet's copper shank and bonded lead core retain weight for consistent, lethal penetration. Its long, sleek profile offers an extremely high ballistic coefficient and AccuChannel™ groove technology improves accuracy across a variety of different rifles.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding Performance!! When I first read about the Edge TLR Bullet, my first thought was, this bullet has every feature I want in a hunting bullet. High B.C., controlled expansion at close range out to very long range, and hopefully, reliable accuracy. My rifle is a model 70 Winchester, .300 WSM. It has been accurized, muzzle brake installed and trigger improved. It is a sub MOA rifle with hand loads, but I never found a factory load that was satisfactory. My current load, though accurate, had somewhat disappointing performance on elk. I always brought one down, but sometimes required more shots than I thought necessary. I had an opportunity to hunt with the Edge TLR Ammo this past fall. I sighted in for a 200 yd zero. My average 3 shot group was less that .75 inch at 100 yards. I plugged the data into a ballistic program on my phone. My only opportunity required a 570 yd shot. I set my scope for that yardage, from the program. I had a solid rest and fired. The bullet hit where I was aiming, and the elk dropped in its tracks. I have never experienced this kind of performance from a bullet before, particularly at extended range. My complements to Federal for creating a load that performs as advertised. I don't know if I can improve on factory load performance with hand loaded ammo, but I would like to try.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Maybe they'll put them on the shelf? This is a great bullet design. High b.c., bonded, polymer heat tip, opens at low velocities and don't blow up at high velocities like others do. By luck I found some of these and tried them in a new Remington model seven with only a 20" light weight barrel with 1 in 10" rate of twist. A five shot group came in right at 1". Since then I've rebarreled the rifle in same caliber but a real barrel length and weight, 24", magnum contour and 1 in 9" twist. The barrel has been broke in but I don't want to waste the rest of this ammo grouping and sighting in only to buy other available ammo for hunting season. Now , I know I'm pushing it but it would be nice to find some of these bullets in .264/6.5 diameter!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from tight groups out of my 300 asm Finally got a box and tested at the range. I've had great success from bonded bear tip but will be using the now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome ammo! Seeing new long range ammunition on the market always gets me interested. I tested this stuff out of a Browning X-Bolt Long Range and compared it to the Hornady Precision Hunter ammo. With the Hornady I was able to get about a 1/2 MOA group. I tried the Federal Edge TLR and I put three rounds through the exact same hole. Absolutely awesome ammo. I was only sighing in at 100 yards but it is still very impressive. I recovered two of each bullet from the dirt mound behind the target and although they were shot into dirt the Edge TLR retained about 90% of its weight while the ELD-X retained only about 50%. Definitely looking forward to shooting longer distances and hunting with this ammo!
