Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't risk your trophy on the performance of this round! I mistakenly believed the marketing of this bullet. I purchased it to hunt with my AR15. I shot an 8 pt Buck at 90 yards in the front right shoulder. The deer jumped 8-10 feet and stood there in shock, I shot again, this time at 85 yds, again in the front right shoulder. The buck ran into the woods. Three people spent 2-1/2 hours tracking ( up to 500 yds perimeter) and nothing. I found a piece of meat with zero blood where the first shot hit, nothing on the second shot. There was no blood trail to follow. This is the wrong bullet to trust to bag a trophy. I have returned to a 30 caliber platform.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for youth deer hunting. My 11 year old daughter shot a buck and a doe with this round last weekend during the Wisconsin youth hunt. Both shots were 160 yards. Neither went more than 50 yards after the shot. I retrieved the bullet from the buck, it was a quartering too shot entering behind the front shoulder and stopping under the skin just in front of the hind quarter. The bullet expanded perfectly (.500") and still weighed 60.2 grains.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Performance on Deer Here's my buck from last fall. Double lung hit from 40 yards, went less than 10 after the shot. First deer I've shot with a 223, but was very impressed with the Federal ammo. Won't be the last one either, hopefully.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Did the job I took to the woods with my AR just to say I did. Opening morning a doe walked by just at shooting time around 40yrds away. One shot turned out to be a double lung and she stumbled tripped and bedded down 40yrds from the shot. I would recommend this round to anyone using a AR for deer. After field dressing the deer I realized no meat loss. I usually hunt with a 7mm REM mag but will hunt with my AR from now on when the range is within 100yrds.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works for me Shot a doe from about 50 yards using a custom MSR. The doe kicked and ran about 20 yards before stopping and dropping. The shot was a pass through and I forgot to measure the exit hole. I did not want to hunt with .223, but I think I will use it again since the first hunt went so well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good product 1 doe and 1 buck killed with this ammo...average 60 yds traveled after the shot, The best accuracy of any .223 hunting round thru any both my AR's. I would recommend keeping shots within 100 yds to maintain proper shot placement and good energy levels for clean kills.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product. This round shot well out of my AR-15, and cleanly put down a whitetail doe at 75 yards. The deer was easily blood trailed and was recovered 30 yards from where she stood when shot. With good shot placement and marksmanship, this round is highly effective.
