When law enforcement agencies choose a duty round, they use the FBI’s demanding protocol testing to see how different loads compare. In our internal testing, HST 45 Auto (P45HST2S), 40 S&W (P40HST1S) and 9mm Luger (P9HST1S) all scored exceptionally high in every protocol scenario.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Variety is what makes the 10 great I carry a mag of this in the gun around town and my extra an extra mag of Underwood Xtreme penetrator. If am in a situation where I need to shoot through something I can change mags. If it's bad enough that I have shot 16 rounds of hydra shock and I'm down to the second mag I figure I'm not going to be as worried about over penetration. Bottom line: There is a use for weaker self defense ammo with the 10mm. It is what makes the caliber unique in the automatic pistol market.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good load for use but too pricey Sure its weak 10mm but it's good for home defense or if you are concerned with overpenetration or you get this at a discount for duty purposes. I personally shot a pumpkin with it and it destroyed it so it's a very solid performer for weak 10mm Only recommendation to federal is lower the cost because Underwood is much cheaper.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Weak This 10mm is nothing more then their 40 S&W. 180gr @ 1030FPS vs 180gr @ 1010 FPS for their 40 S&W. Just pathetic.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from don't understand the hate yeah its a weak round but its designed as a home defence round instead of a hunting round, so no overpenetration that can kill or damage your neighbors and enough penetration to just kill and damage the "youths" who are B&E

Rated 4 out of 5 by from READ THE BOX! Seriously guys. Grow up! This is a Personal Defense load. Not a hog load. Not a hunting load. They make those too. If you own a 10mm (or a few) like me, you like having the options. So stop whining about how "weak" this load is. If you want a hotter load, get one. And move on. Don't bash a manufacturer for providing options! Especially a danged consistent, quality load like this.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Wimpy Heck just buy a 40 s&w if your gonna shoot this stuff at over a $1 a round . Quit making this and start making more of the trophy bonded federal 10mm. I shoot underwood 10mm and will continue until the big 3 lower prices and increase velocity.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This is pricey .40 Slow and Weak. Why on Earth can't you make real 10mm. What is the point of this stuff?

Rated 2 out of 5 by from So far away from what 10mm was originally designed This would suffice for home defense I suppose but this load is no where near what it was originally designed to do. This is about 200 fps and 200+ ft lbs energy shy of a standard 10mm. One might as well just buy a 40 s&w.
