Appears useless for me
I can't even rack the slide on my LCP Custom without problems. The rounds hang up, stick before crossing the feed ramp, and sometimes even stovepipe (live rounds, I mean) while trying to eject after. I never had the chance to fire a round. Seems that's probably a good thing, all things considered.

Don't use in Ruger LCP II !
Recently purchased a Ruger LCP II for a backup piece. Sighted Viridian laser and practiced with Winchester FMJ without problem. Fired Federal HST and gun kicked like I'd stuck a +P load in it. Then casing stuck in slider on ejection, crumpling casing. Tried two more shots and had same result. Stopped shooting them for fear of damaging pistol

love it!!!!!
I saw these while shopping for some ball ammo while at walmart. Took the chance and bought a box. I have been a huge fan of the hst for years. I went out to the range with four water jugs, one gallon each. Fired one round in to the water jugs, recovered that bullet in the third jug. dented the back wall of the third jug. The distance was at 15-20 yards or so. test gun is my bersa thunder 380. these are my carry rounds both in town and in the southern oregon woods.

Good knockdown power...I know first hand.
Was shot in the abdomen with one of these because of a malfunction. I'm 6'2" 250 lbs and it dropped me. I will say that they didn't expand like intended which I'm grateful for. It's still in there lodged below my right kidney. It may be tiny but it'll do the job. Tore through my diaphragm, small intestine, and bottom of my kidney. Word of advice though double tap.

Non Scientific test
Fired at 30 feet into four layer denim covering two Tide detergent bottles filled with water. Bullets transited both containers round hole in and out all four sides target without stopping. One bullet recovered was clogged with denim failed to expand.
Fired into a five gallon bucket filled with water covered with four layers denim, penetrated the denim and one side of bucket bullet recovered hollow point filled with denim, no expansion. Penetration was good, the bullet strike was powerful.
Operation in my Taurus TCP was flawless, recoil while sharp was manageable.
Overall a good defensive round I'd say.

Excellent Velocity and consistency
I chronographed 5 of these at 11.5' from a 3.25" bbl Glock G42: 1023, 992, 984, 1007, 1018. Sample mean was 1005 fps, sample standard deviation 17 fps. 1009 fps corrected to muzzle. Impressive velocity and low standard deviation from a short barrel. Excellent job Federal.
