.327 Federal Magnum Takes Home Golden Bullseye Award

ANOKA, Minn. – May 21, 2009 – Federal Premium’s .327 Federal Magnum received a Golden Bullseye award from American Rifleman at last weekend’s NRA Annual Meetings in Phoenix, AZ. Federal Premium was presented the award at a special breakfast that kicked off the 138th consecutive NRA Annual Meetings.

Standing Out from the Crowd
Golden Bullseye awards are given based on the opinions of NRA Publications editors and staff. Each product that garners an award must meet several pre-determined benchmarks. Among other things, a product must be recently introduced and widely available, used/tested by a staff member or regular contributor to the magazine and styled in a manner befitting the firearm industry and, perhaps more importantly, its enthusiasts.

“The .327 Federal Magnum is a perfect example of the innovation I have come to expect from the talented engineering team at Federal,” said American Rifleman Editor-in-Chief Mark Keefe. “My hat is off to Larry [Head] and Drew [Goodlin]. The .327 wasn't innovation merely for innovation's sake. It filled a real, practical need in the shooting and personal protection community.”

“Being recognized by Mark and the other NRA editors and staff means a lot to us,” said Kyle Tengwall, director of marketing. “Taking home a Golden Bullseye is a huge honor—one that we’re humbled to accept. The .327 Federal Magnum is a caliber that has been accepted by manufacturers and shooters alike and is definitely here to stay. We’re excited with the recent award, and look forward to developing additional new products that meet the need of today’s hunters and shooters.”

Make Sense Caliber
Federal Premium developed this cartridge for its real-world appeal. The .327 Federal Mag. is built on the .32 caliber platform, but gets near .357 Magnum ballistics. This makes it an ideal conceal-carry caliber and a viable backup option for law enforcement. The increase in power is captured with industry-leading powder technology and doesn’t come with the burden of extra recoil.

Keefe added, “Look at the numbers and then get a .327 in your hands at the range, and you'll understand. It breathed new excitement into one of the most ‘old school’ designs in the firearm industry. That's what happens when a firm's engineers are real shooters and hunters.”

The .327 Federal Magnum is currently available in 85-grain Hydra-Shok®, 115-grain Gold Dot® and 100-grain American Eagle® options. The 115-grain Gold Dot offering is also available to handloaders as a component bullet.
